Classes
Walker’s Encompass classes are about learning how to create truthful performances in all styles of the dramatic arts. All classes include acting technique whether the focus is on television, film, straight theatre, or musical theatre. There are many different ways of obtaining truthful, captivating, and powerful performances. Each individual learns differently and to that end, Walker teaches an amalgamation of styles and techniques catered to that specific class and/or individual.
Encompass 1 (Adults, High School, Middle School)
This class is aptly named because it encompasses cold reading, monologues, scene study, and auditioning. The structure of the class is as follows:
Week One: students come to class ready to cold read opposite a reader. They are then given feedback and an analysis of what challenges there were and how to go about making those corrections.
Week Two: students bring a monologue to class to work on with Walker.
Week Three: students were given a scene and a scene partner at the Week 2 session so that they come prepared to work on a scene from all different genres during week three.
Week Four: after working on cold reading, a monologue, and a scene, students now audition for Walker and are provided feedback forms on how to improve on the next set of auditions.
